Had breakfast at 07.00. Jamie is taking the bus to Viana as his feet are in a bad way, Pauline will walk. The weather this morning was a bit wet but stopped after an hour or so, then it got warm and I could finally walk in my T shirt as I had dreamed about.
We met several people on the way today that we had met before, its nice to meet and say hello. Today’s target is Viana, 18.5km or Logrono which is 27km. We arrived in Viana at 1300 and decided we had done enough so we booked in to a double room over a bar/restaurant. €20 each, room has a shower but the loo is down the hall. They also serve a pilgrim meal here in the evening for €12.
After the usual shower, shave and laundry routine we headed out for a look around. It was still warm but chilly. we had a few vino’s at a table outside a cafe with Sean Norris and a few others we had met before.
One of them was a man called Gary Michner who we met yesterday. He told me he had walked in the Wicklow mountains years before and would have walked a lot of the same trails as I had. He was a funny guy. Turns out he is an Anglican Bishop. When we went down to the meal this evening all the gang we knew were there at a long table so we joined them. They were staying at the municipal albergue, which by all accounts was not great. We had a good meal and a great laugh.
